Oh travel days! How we love them… We had to be up early for our drive to Brunei airport. They drop you off 3 hours before the flight which was way to early for how quick we got through that airport. We had a coffee, Anthony fixed up some of my blogs and we went manget shopping and we still had hours before our flight. However the flight itself was great. I had booked the aisle and window seat and hoped no one booked the middle and it turns out no one booked the middle. We had a spare seat the whole flight.
The view leaving Brunei was very cool as was the flight over Camboida and Vietnam. It went so quick and before we knew it we were landing in Bangkok.
Getting through Bangkok airport was super quick and easy it took us only 30 minutes from the plane gate to be out on the street and in a grab. While we were on our way to the accomodation I was talking to my parents who were telling me that Ravage our cat was being a real pain in the arse. I was really worried and I am debating if we need to call the trip early and go home. However we are going to see how tomorrow goes before making a decision. He has seemed normal as the night has gone on so fingers crossed he is back to normal.
Tonight we were going on a food tour with Lost Plate tours. We have previously done thier Cambodian tour and it was great so when I saw they did one in Bangkok I signed right up. We met up with Tukky who would be our guide for the night. As soon as I met her I knew we were in for a night! I got a huge hug and then she excitedly told us it was just us on the tour. She was so bubbly and full of energy. We jumped in our Tuk Tuk with Tukky sitting at my feet and leaning on my leg and off we went to explore Bangkok through food.
Stop 1: Tom Yum Wontons and noodles at Trok Rong Moo Noodle
A chinese pork noodle store that has blended Thai and chinese food. This dish blends flavorful tom yum ingredients like lemongrass, galangal, and kaffir lime with crispy fried wontons. Served alongside a bowl of tom yum noodles. It was spicy!!!! but so so good.
Stop 2: The old town in Bangkok
We were dropped off and Tukky took us through a maze of old amazing buildings and shops. We stopped at a few places and saw a rubber duck shop. (I will be back tomorrow) She showed us some of the mansions and stopped us to take so many photos. This area is so nice, and I didnt even know it existed.
Stop 3: Waterfront
We made it to the waterfront to watch sunset which was amazing in itself but then Tukky decided we should feed the fish too. There were these huge fish called Pangasius fish they are apparently Shark Catfish found in South East Asia.
Stop 4: Street Food at a Local Market
We headed over to one of the oldest markets in Bangkok and Tukky just kept buying us food here. We had 2 types of sausages, fried plantains, these dessert balls with red bean, and then she found pineapple and cococnut. There was so much food. All delicious though.
Stop 5: Dinner? We went to Kaiyang Boran which is a resturant that has been around for ages we had minced pork with aromatic herbs (Laab), fresh papaya salad (Som Tum), fragrant sticky rice, and meatballs fried with lime leaves. It was so good and so many famous people have been here. But man we were getting so full.
Stop 6: Last stop dessert Bangkok’s favorite sweet treat is what we were eating it is a combination of seasonal fruit and popular add-ons, all swimming in fresh coconut milk. It was pretty good.
I feel like we travelled all over Bangkok and we are just so full and walked out. The tour was amazing! Tukky was amazing too. She felt like she had adopted us by the end of the tour.
