We had a bit of a lazy morning as after a late night the night before and early safari yesteday we were is dire need of a sleep. Our driver picked us up at 10 and we started our drive towards Sigirya. The roads this morning went from forest to huge rice fields it reminded me very much of the Ubud area of Bali. We made a stop in a tiny town to find a random coffee shop. The shop owner was very suprised to have tourists enter his shop.
Before we knew it we had made it to Sigiryia and we checked into our accomodation. The accomodation itself wasn’t very flashy but the view over the rice fields and lion was amazing.

We decided we would walk ourselves down to the main street and try and organise ourselves some food. We ended up settling on this awesome place called the Tea Bar which had the main resturant upstairs overlooking the main street. We ordered some omlettes, Anthoby got the Srilankan omlette which actually was the standout.

Turns out our driver had gone to the same resturant which made pick up for the next activity easier. We headed across to Lion Rock which is one of Srilanka’s UNESCO world heritage sites. Now the cost to get in is 30 USD for foreigners and that only lets you in to climb to the top. I did not wish to do this because it takes hours and there are always so many tourists the last bit the ckmib is uo these tiny metal steps that overhang the mountain and they are meant to be 2 way, but most tourtists end up being stuck for ages there in a people traffic jam. Anthony and I had already deciced we did not want to climb but we did want to see the Rock itself and we really didnt want to pay $30. So we decided to walk around the outside of the moat area and see if we could see it. We were annoyed by a few tuk tuk drivers but ended up making it aeound to see the rock. We could also see that little staircase and so many people were stuck standing still on it. It was actually a really lovely walk.

We made it back to our driver and he took us to another viewpoint for lion rock. It was a great free view.
We went bak to the same place for dinner and this time i got a vegetable curry which was delicious. The last thing we did is Chamila took us out to do a loris walk. We met at a random dudes house and procceded to walk in the dark with red lights through the forests to try and see a loris. We did see them but man we were so lucky on the night safari the other night because they moved so quickly out of view. After 2 hours of trekking through the jungle we were muddy, sweaty and so hot!
